THE SCHOOL

Italian summer school for foreigners, run by Baobab cultural Association, organizes summer study holidays focusing on Italian language and culture. There’s no age limit for the students. During the stay (1 week or more) cultural, sports and, “green” activities are organized day by day.

COURSES

One week courses are organized on three levels: basic, intermediate, advanced. Students attend school Mon-Fri. 9.00am-1.pm. (20 hours). Two or more weeks courses can be organized on demand.

TEACHERS’ STAFF

Young italian language teachers working in primary and secondary Public schools make up the teaching staff.
All the teachers are Italian Language graduates, have attended courses on teaching methologies, and post graduate courses on Italian as second language.

LOCATION/SETTLEMENT

The Summer School is in Rio nell’Elba, a historical village on the hills, facing Tirreno Sea.
During the stay students will discover not only Italian but also the charming Elba environment, a National protected area, the various chances to do sports activities, the many historical places, and the excellent traditional food and wines.
During each week students can choose different activities: sailing school, trekking, food and wine tasting, history tours.

TEACHING METHODOLOGY

Group activities and learning through experience are the methods we use. The classes will be made up of 4-10 students: this will assure high teaching standards. Every class has two tutor teachers. They are group leaders also in the extra activities (swimming, tours, diving, sailing).
An Attendance and Proficiency Certificate is given to the students at the end of the course.

HOUSING

Students can choose two housing standards:

1) Hotels in Elba;
2) Flats in Elba (suggested for small groups).

Elba Island

Legends say that Venus, goddes of Beauty and Love, gave birth to Tuscan Archipelago. Her precious necklace made of 7 gems fell in the Mediterranean sea, the gems became the seven islands of the Archipelago.
Elba Island is between Corsica and Piombino village on the Tuscan coast.
It is the major island of the Archipelago. Its coasts are charming and fascinating, as is its landscape.
In Elba, tourists can find sealife and ancient woods, beaches and historical buildings, lively holiday villages by the sea and quiet ancient villages in the hills.
